CANTAREUS Gastro combines three natural biologically active ingredients, namely slime of Helix aspersa snails, St. John's wort, and mint. As such, it has a multitude of positive effects on the body, but is particularly suitable for certain gastrointestinal conditions.

The slime of the garden snail is rich in some fundamental organic substances such as amino acids, glycosaminoglycans, enzymes and other essential nutrients. The snail concentrate contains regenerative components such as allantoin and glycolic acid that produce a moisturizing, exfoliating and anti-inflammatory effect. The glycoproteins, which are available in the slime, are involved in cell interactions and play an important role during detoxification. The presence of antimicrobial peptides helps the body maintain an optimal microbial environment. St. John's wort is a medicinal herb whose main ingredients – hypericin and hyperforin – are considered to be natural antibiotics and antiviral inhibitors. Mint is a major source of the organic compound menthol, which has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Mixed together, these three substances help the body fight against staphylococcal infections, as well as infections caused by the bacteria Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli and Helicobacter pylori, the latter having a major role in the formation of gastric ulcers and being considered a risk factor for stomach cancer.
